First and foremost, a client and lawyer must
trust each other. Trust is the foundation of the attorney client relationship.
The client trusts that the lawyer is doing his or her best to advocate the
client’s interests in an economical fashion. The lawyer trusts that the client
is forthright about facts and goals.
My Professional Background
In 1995, I left the large Manhattan firm I had joined after law school and
opened my own practice to better realize my own personal and professional goals.
I enjoy practicing as a sole practitioner because I help my clients with very
real, personal and important legal needs. I work in a variety of areas, most of
which are enumerated below. Please feel free to skip to the area(s) that most
interest you. I am admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and
Connecticut. If you do not reside in these states, or have no business affairs
within these jurisdictions, this advertisement is not intended for you. Each
state has its differences, and you are encouraged to locate an attorney licensed
in the jurisdiction where you reside or do business.
Before I opened my own practice, I practiced law with Proskauer Rose Goetz &
Mendelsohn (now Proskauer Rose, LLP). Proskauer is one of the largest law firms
in New York City and has an easily recognizable list of high profile clients
(NBA, NHL, Yankees, UPS, MSG, etc.). I was a commercial litigator and learned my
skills with attorneys who I regard as some of the best and brightest
practitioners in the nation.
My first professional legal employment was with Ernst & Young as a legal
researcher during law school. During my time there, I did extensive work on
accountants’ malpractice and securities law liabilities together with other
related matters for the in house counsel of this premier accounting firm.
I received my Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from Brooklyn Law School (a private
law school not affiliated with Brooklyn College). I worked very hard in law
school and achieved excellent grades during the critical first year of
instruction and continued to receive good grades throughout the rest of my legal
studies.
Prior to law school, I worked as a financial analyst for a consulting firm,
Peterson & Co. Consulting, whose primary client was a consortium of asbestos
insurers and producers. I also worked as a financial analyst for a small
entreprenurial firm, Barclay Associates. Barclay Associates specialized in
obtaining “venture debt” financing for struggling companies. My role was as
a financial analyst in reviewing financial positions and preparing presentation
packages to potential lenders.
As an undergraduate, I attended the University of Pennsylvania and received two
degrees, one being a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School,
with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Management. I also earned a Bachelor of
Arts in Political Science from the College of Arts and Sciences.
