Michael D. Ray is a graduate of Florida International University.
B.A. in Liberal Studies, Nova Law Center graduate; member of
Florida Bar, 5th & 11th Circuit Courts of Appeal and U.S. Supreme Court
Bar.
Biography and Areas of Practice
Michael D. Ray is a former Southern Regional Vice President of the National Lawyers Guild
and
Chapter President of the South Florida Chapter of the American
Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Mr. Ray is also co-chair of the National Lawyers Guild,
Law Student Asylum Project.
Michael D. Ray has argued cases in state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Ray's practice consists mostly in Immigration and mostly in political asylum, including cases based upon sexual orientation persecution.
Mr. Ray also handles constitutional issues and Freedom of Information Act cases as well as various other matters including criminal and family matters. Mr. Ray is active with Immigration Equality, a national organization working to help gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender folks with immigration cases and to pass the Permanent Partners Immigration Act, which would give Immigration benefits to same sex couples the same as a married couple has.
